Matrix Damp 'n' Mould is the damp, mould and structural waterproofing division of Matrix BAU Property Solutions Ltd (Company No. 15623011), a London property repairs business.
That order matters. Most damp companies are damp companies — they sell damp proofing, so damp proofing is what they find. We came at it from the other direction. Working across general repairs and refurbishment in London housing stock, we kept meeting the same situation: a property that had been injected, replastered and invoiced, still damp two winters later, because the actual problem was a gutter, a raised patio, a bridged cavity or a bathroom fan venting into a loft.
So we built the division properly. CSSW training for structural waterproofing, Newton certification for cavity drain systems, Federation of Damp membership, and in-house diagnostics — salts analysis, moisture profiling and thermal imaging — so the diagnosis does not depend on a surface meter and an opinion.

We Charge for Surveys
A free survey is a sales visit paid for by the job it sells. We charge, deduct the fee from the works, and are free to tell you that you do not need us.
We Test, Not Guess
Salts analysis, moisture profiling and thermal imaging in-house. A conductivity meter reading on its own is not a diagnosis.
We Fix the Cause
If the answer is a downpipe, a path level or an extract fan, that is what we quote. We are a repairs business; we can actually do it.
We Put It in Writing
Diagnosis, specification, fixed price, drying times, guarantee terms. All of it in a document, before you commit to anything.

Founder & Managing Director
Tony founded Matrix BAU Property Solutions Ltd and runs the damp and waterproofing division. He has spent over twenty years in London property repairs, which is where the diagnosis-first approach came from — years of being called back to buildings that had already been injected, replastered and invoiced, and finding the water was coming from a gutter the whole time.

Our Surveyors
CSSW-Trained & Certified
Surveys and waterproofing design are carried out by CSSW-trained structural waterproofing specialists and certified damp surveyors. Installation is by Newton-trained technicians.
Individual surveyor names and certificate numbers are listed on your survey report, and we are happy to provide them before a visit if you would like to check.
The Standards We Work To
Damp and waterproofing is an unregulated field. Anyone can print "damp specialist" on a van, which is precisely why the qualifications that do exist are worth checking for.
CSSW — Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing
The recognised qualification for below-ground waterproofing design. BS 8102 expects a waterproofing design specialist on the team for below-ground work, and CSSW is the standard evidence of that competence. Our structural waterproofing work is carried out by CSSW-trained specialists.
Newton Waterproofing certified installer
Newton is one of the most established structural waterproofing manufacturers in the UK. Certified installer status means our operatives are trained on their cavity drain membrane and liquid applied systems, and that the manufacturer's guarantee is available on installations we carry out.
Federation of Damp
Membership requires adherence to best-practice methods and a complaints route that exists outside our own business. It is a check on us, which is the point of it.
CHAS accreditation
Health and safety pre-qualification assessed against the Common Assessment Standard. It is what most commercial clients and principal contractors ask for before a contractor gets near their site, and we hold it. We carry public and employer's liability insurance, with certificates available on request.
In-house diagnostics
Salts analysis for hygroscopic nitrates and chlorides, moisture profiling from drilled masonry samples rather than surface readings alone, thermal imaging for cold bridging and concealed leaks, and hygrometry for condensation assessment. Run by us, not sent away — which is why the report comes back in 48 hours.
Where We Work
All 32 London boroughs and the City, with regular work across Hertfordshire, Essex, Kent, Surrey and Buckinghamshire. Commercial and specification work takes us further out. Much of what we do is in period housing stock — Victorian and Edwardian terraces, Georgian townhouses, mansion blocks and converted flats — alongside modern build and commercial premises.
Working With Us
You will deal with people, not a call centre. Call 0207 126 8487 during working hours and you will speak to somebody who can answer a technical question rather than book a slot. Send photographs on WhatsApp and you will usually get a considered opinion back the same day, free, before anyone asks you to book anything.
On site, we protect floors and furniture, control dust, clear up daily and leave the property in the state we would want ours left in. Occupied properties, tenanted properties and trading premises are normal for us, not an exception to be charged for.
